Bilal @ Babel, Malmö on 16th of March

“I dare you to be true, I dare you to have fun

Just close your eyes and listen to your heart

I know you’ll find a way little love child”

With his powerful but sweet soul voice, Bilal has delivered us his last album In Another Life in 2015, with the exquisite support of Kendrik Lamar in the funky and quite critical track “Money over Love”. Bilal Sayeed Oliver, this experienced Philly born and now New-York based artist, has on his large list of collaborations names like the great J Dilla or Robert Glasper, and has managed to established himself in recent years with his soulful voice and a music in between R’n’B, jazz, soul, blues and even hip hop an rock. In his latest record In Another Life via Purpose Music Group/eOne Music he surprises with the especially smooth “I really don’t care” or the dreamy “Holding it Back” supported by Kimbra with its nice jazzy drums. In “Love Child”, from which we can see the lyrics above, his peculiar singing engages in a freaky and funky sort of love song. Already his previous album A Love Surreal had made a stunning impact, receiving promising reviews such as the SPIN magazine that had put it that way: “Upon fulfilment, A Love Surreal becomes about the promise of tomorrow”. And the tomorrow is just as good as we had expected.

So don’t forget to come to see this magnificent artist this Wednesday night at the fabulous Babel club in Malmö!
